Hi All,
I've read a few articles now that it's best practice to use Paravirtualization all the time, even for lower consuming VM's. I wanted
to confirm that this is true and also how do you change an existing VM to use Paravirtualization?
Thanks,
Greg
Also remember they are not recommended for locally attached disks.
Are you referring to PVSCSI or Paravirtualization
Paravirtualization
http://blogs.vmware.com/guestosguide/2009/09/vmi-retirement.html
PVSCSI
http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1010398
Paravirtualization is one of those keywords that almost became unusable because it is used so differently ...
what do you want to know ?
use pvscsi and vmxnet devices ?
use special Paravirtualization-features in Linux kernels ?
AFAIK using
vmi.present = "TRUE"
is deprecated and only works on 32bit VMs
PVSCSI versus LSI Logic
PVSCSI
As long as it is supported on the OS you will be using I would use it. It is a short list see the KB article.
Also remember they are not recommended for locally attached disks.
