Packets loss in the guest OS

Hello!

Working with your product - VMWARE ESXi 5.5 we met several problems.

In our programm and we need listen and analisys SPAN traffic (VoIP). When we deploy the test bench, we faced the problem of lost calls.

Configuration:

1. HOST:

    CPU Intel Core i5 760 @ 2.8GHz

     8Gb RAM

     4 HDD

     3 Network intefaces (2 Intel adapters + realtek int. to MB, using Intel only)

     ESXi-5.5.0-1331820-standart

2. Virtual Mashine x2

     CPU - 1

     memory - 3072 Mb

     Each virtual disk of VM is located on different HDD

     Each VM has 2 network interfaces. The first is for connection of VM and local network, and the second is to recieved SIP traffic from our SIPp test bench.

Detailed traffic analysis showed that not all packets come to the network interfaces.

On the first virtual machine we lose some packets, and on the second we lose not the same packets, that we lose on the first VM. The traffic loss is not identical.

We concluded that the packets loss occures on the side of the Virtual Switch, in interaction of Virtual Switch and virtual Network Adapter.

Trying resolve the problem, we took following steps:

- changed network adapters (TP-Link -> Intel)

- upgrade the virtual environment to VMWARE ESXi 5.5.0 1331820 - packets loss decreased a little

- change the virtual network adapter on the VM E1000 -> VMXNET3 - it took no effect

- change the network adapter options of the VM due to the article (http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=203949...)

     - Small Rx Buffers missing - > 4096

     - Rx Ring # 1 Size is missing -> 4096

Last change decreased packets loss, but not completly.

Perhaps you can offer other solutions?

We will be grateful to you for help.

Thank you.
