Packet Loss 10-15% for VM hosted on ESX4

Hi All,

I have been experiencing packet loss 10-15% for VM hosted on ESX4 server. However there is no packet loss for the service console of the same server. While there is a packet loss I m not able to open the console of the VM’s as well.

Work around I have done so far:

USB Interrupts: I have tried disabling the USB drivers from the BIOS. However was not able to find the modules.conf file to uncomment the USB line

Second:

I have moved all of the VM on a different vswitch, there are 2 vswitch one is for service console and vmkernel and the other is for virtual machines

Nothing seems to be working the OS hosted on the VM is RHEL 5

Regards,

V

What kind of network do you use?

Have you checked the switch port for failures or collisions?

Are the VMware Tools installed into the RHEL 5 VM? Do any other VM's have this issue, or is it isolated to just this one VM (and one OS)? How many NIC's do you have in the host and how are all the vSwitches configured? What's the host hardware (make, model, etc)?
