Hello, i am having trouble with pxe-boot from a ESXI 5.x VM (see this thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/8199270a-b833-4063-9b8d-b88baf135a88/... )
Problem occurs NOT on physical-hardware but only in an esxi 5.5 VM.
I think there is something with TFTP/Variable Extension Windows from WDS that is not working correct in esxi.
What can be done to fix this?
Thx

Hi,
i am not sure if that has something to do with your issue, but check the following Microsoft kb.

Hi,
i have tried this already without result.
I do remember some option in registry in the WDS server about UDP portpolicy when I was working on a similar TFTP failed error message in one of my server.
Ah. here it is:
WDS PXE-E32: TFTP open timeout | Yet Another System Center Blog
Just to make sure that you DO know what you are doing with registry
Hi,
i have checked your option.
UDPportpolicy is default on "0" in server2012R2.
So this isn`t the solution...
I am having similar issues with esxi 6, (Server 2012 and PXE boot not working)
I have set it up PXE with WDS, on a physical server (Server 2012) and I have no issue. So it seems the issue is with the VM.
I have tried the E1000 driver with no luck. Did you ever get this resolved?
