There is sceanrio you can hit with the purple screen. Can you just reboot. If still exist. Please do collect the dump log.

Hello,

Did you able to isolate route cause of the problem?

I am having the same issue with Supermicro ESXi 5.5 Update 2.

I am running 6.5 and all 6 hosts all have  been crashing as of late.  Trying to figure out if its a vm issue or hardware issue and VMware nor Dell can figure it out.

I see the same issue on a ESXi 6.5 server here too. Within the last 2 week period, it served 3 panics: 2 #PF exception 14 issues and a PCPU 6: no heartbeat issus in between. The server is normally rocksolid.

Can this have anything to do with Meltdown and Spectre patches being forced upon the VM guests?

The aforementioned posts says to update, that kinda started the problem for me.

Getting the same issue with my ESXi server,

Supermicro H8DGU based server.

2x Opteron 6168

48GB

Running ESXi 6.5 Update 2 (Build 8294253)

Several Linux VMs, a few Windows ones.

See that is the latest version. On the previous patch level it was fine. I was updating to hope some of the UI glitches would work. Its a bit nicer to be able to properly configure a new VM.

Though 2 incidents of this in two days is not good. Next one I'll capture an image of.

Same No Heartbeat, on PCPU.
