PCI passthrough "suddenly" not working any more

I am running vSphere 6.7GA on a Zotac ZBOX CI327 for three years now. I had PCI passthrough configured for most of the time, passing either the second NIC or for the last two years the WiFi device to a VM that acts as gateway between my DSL router and my internal network. The box has been running (or at least been powered on) for a long time.

Recently, I had to turn off the machine and remove power. After turning it on again, PCI passthrough no longer works. The corresponding tab shows all devices as "Passthrough: Not capable". In the BIOS of the ZBOX I found no configuration that looked remotely helpful (actually, there is very little one can configure). I can't remember I had to do anything special to get Passthrough working three years ago, but I am not sure.

Any idea how to start tackling this? Is there some information somewhere, why ESXi thinks PCI passthrough is not available? Any logfile to start looking into?
