P2V & disk space

Hi all,

Vmware ESXi 6

I have a kaspersky physical computer with 1To disk (Total)

I need to convert it to VM, but i don't have 1 To free space on datastore

is there a way to modify the disk size during or after the conversion to adapt it to the space available in the datastore.

What's the best tool P2V to ESXi VM.

Yes. Within the VMware Converter there is an adv. tab (hidden option) for

  1. Reduced vDisk size based on consumed space based on the source filesystem. Huge savings if you cleanup first
  2. Create a single vDisk per partition(c:, d: logical drive ends in separate disks with a single partition each). Can later be increased when needed during runtime
  3. Create a Thinprovisioning vDisk

 

Not sure what Starwind Converter supports.

Yes, during the p2v this is possible.
Its importent if you have a need to increase drive c: which is only possible when having one vDisk = one partition.

so if i have 01 physical disk with two Partitions, i can convert it to 2 vdisks ?
