Optiplex 7060 Freeze with Esxi 7.0.3

Hello,

I think everything is in the title ... for some unknow reason(s), I have my 7.0.3 freezin which is running on an Optiplex 7060.

I searched , foudn some freezes for some other versions on all platforms but not for 7.0.3.

I haven't found anything for the optiplex 7060.

I searched in the logs and found nothing .

How can I investigate ?

Thanks in advance.

Not too sure if this is supported, as far as I remember it's not.

But to help you, what kind of freezes are we talking about? For the Optiplex itself, ESXi, the VMs? If it's from the Optiplex I don't think there are that many logs to troubleshoot. The ESXi host however has plenty of log files to try and troubleshoot the freezes. Most of the time it's due to the storage driver, did you already check the vmkernel/vmkwarning/hostd logs for example for any outstanding issues?

Hi , Thanks for the answer.

the crash is for the esxi , I tried to run it alone, with no VM started and it crashes

I upgraded to latest esxi version and get now acrash screen ( see post here : https://communities.vmware.com/t5/forums/replypage/board-id/2006/message-id/282718)

I plan to switch the NVE with another one to see the outcome, as accoridng my first guesses from the crashscreen, seems to be linked with the NVE no ?

Hi @LionelM ,

Aha great, that makes stuff much easier. So the ESXi host is crashing on startup, it seems with a PSOD. This looks to be because of the NVME driver atleast. Make sure there is a driver installed that is compatible with your ESXi version. Also take a look at the firmware for the NVME driver. Like I said I am unsure if the Optiplex is supported at all so I can't (yet) point you in the right direction for the driver. Maybe if you can tell me what disk and what storage controller you have I can have a look at the compatibility matrix.
