I'm trying to understand the below.
I have 2 VMs in ESXi, a VyOS Firewall/Router VM, and another VM running Windows.
I have 2 Portgroups, 1 with VLAN ID 1030, 1 with VLAN ID 4095 (Trunk Port).
I have attached the 4095 Portgroup to the VyOS vNIC, and the 1030 Portgroup to the Windows VM vNIC.
I have tested traffic going out of ESXi in 2 ways, 1 by adding a VLAN Sub-Interface 1030 to the VyOS eth0, and the 2nd without adding a VLAN Sub-Interface to the VyOS. In both cases the traffic traverses fine to the outside.
My question is are these 2 different ways to configure VLANs in ESXi ?
If these are 2 different ways, which is the correct way ?
