Operating system not found after removing network adapters

Hi all,

I've a window server 2012 vm for Veeam Backup with two network adapters on two different lan.

The adapters are E1000 and I'm trying to change them to VMXNET3

I've tried:

- removing adapters and adding new adapters with powered on vm (with and without uninstall adapters from windows control panel)

- removing adapters and adding new adapters with powered off vm

- removing adapters without adding new

In any case vm can't boot anymore, and during boot I get error "OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND, RETRYING BOOT NOW...". If I've network (for example in case 1) vm try to boot from network.

I've done a test machine and nothing happened, all works fine.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

It seems like you have ghost driver. So, Reboot the system with safe mode option and remove the like - "set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1" or devcon.

Is it network based boot OS or local Drive.

If it is network based OS then its work on MAC address , when we change NIC our MAC address changed.

Try again add E1000 and reboot.

If its local drive then go to BiOS setting and select local drive as boot type.

How to go BIOS, edit of vm change boot option select 2nd option go BIOS then power on.

Boot is local drive

I've already done this, but it seems it can't find the local drive if I change network interface..
