Hi,
Below link of "VMware Compatibility Guide / IO device"
https://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=io
Fields of "驱动程序类型" and "Driver Model:" they have options "VMware Inbox" and "native" in each.
What is VMware definition for above options .
Thank you,
HC
Your post needs moving to the correct area for ESXi, so I have reported it to the moderators.
Inbox driver : Difference between ASYNC and INBOX drivers by VMwa... - VMware Technology Network VMTN
Native driver :
Troubleshooting native drivers in ESXi 5.5 or later (2044993) (vmware.com)
Hope that it will answer your questions.
Hi,
Thank you for the sharing.
in this article :https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/2147565
Description:
ESXi 6.5 contains many new native drivers that replace the earlier vmklinux drivers. Most of the new native drivers are enabled by default after installation or upgrade.
Can I understand it : if the drive is "native" it also will be a "inbox" ?
Thanks,
HC
Driver native can be find downloading VIP offline bundle zip on VMware HCL website or installed using custom ISO from Partner - Dell / HPE etc / during an update or upgrade.
So you can follow the HCL to update your NIC device driver for example, but you can also download the ISO from custom ISO.
If you use normal ISO, you need to check the build release but most the time they are included.
