Good day Vmware experts.
We run a terminal server farm with 10 windows 2012 R2 terminal servers, vmware tools is installed. using HP esxi build 6.0.0 (4192238)
We are now using vsphere server 6.0 u2b installed a few weeks ago, however this issue predates this install.
We are using HP C7000 chassis with HP BL460c gen 9 blades.
I dont think its hardware related but anything is possible.
When one of our techs logs into the web client, and clicks on a terminal server, and launches the "remote console window"
Every single user on the terminal server that he is logging into experiences a mouse jumping issue.
Now, the tech does not even have to LOG INTO the windows instance, just a the screen where you type in your username and password. If he moves the mouse around and clicks, the mouse jumps for users, this has also been tested and verified.
We have tested and verified this issue on 3 of our terminal servers. Currently we have banned the vmware "remote console window"
What I would like is another person\people to try and see if this is truly the case in your environment.
I have googled and have not found anything related yet.
We are seeing the same 'jumping mouse' issue.
We host multiple discrete Citrix farms running 7.x versions, mostly on Windows 2012R2 - we've been getting reports of this in the last month or so. The 'jumping mouse' persists when a VM is moved between HP (various generations) and Dell servers - so its definitely not hardware or firmware related.
We can also reproduce it on non-Citrix servers. i.e. an admin on an AD server running 2008R2 (with an old version of VMware tools) experiences it when another admin is using the console. Stopping or starting VMware Tools service makes no difference.
Our ESXi version is Enterprise Plus 6.0 builds 4600944 and 4192238. It can be reproduced in the classic vSphere Client and the vSphere Web Client.
In a different environment we have 6.0 U2 3620759 (i.e. no patches) and the issue cannot be reproduced.
The exact symptoms are more noticeable on dual screen setups, where the mouse pointer suddenly appears on the left screen during use. There is no exact mapping of start and finish position of the cursor. On single screens the cursor suddenly moves to a new position every few seconds when the console admin user is moving the mouse.
It does not occur when the RDP/Citrix user is not moving their mouse - the cursor will not re-position itself at all.
I am not sure if this is related, but I am on VMware ESXi 6.5.0 build-4564106 and the default little WebClient console window as well as the VMRC console window would do this if vmtools were not installed on the VM. Once vmtools were installed, this behavior stopped only in the VMRC console window, but still occurs in the WebClient console popup or tab.
My mouse behavior sounds slightly different in that it jumps hard to the left, right, top, and bottom edges, and cannot be moved away from those edges. This requires some keyboard hotkey wizardry for installation of the OSes. BTW, this happens regardless of OS on the VM and regardless of hardware. I have experienced it in my home environment as well as in every cluster at work, all with different host hardware.
But, you say you have vmtools installed and are using the VMRC. It may have been an old bug in <6.5 (still not completely fixed in 6.5)?
Apologies if this was not very helpful.
