No datastores have been configured

Hi All

I have a big problem with vmware esxi 4.0.0 build 193498

After several years of work, yesterday it will be crashed after rebooting i see the error message "No datastores have been configured" in vSphere client

I see a disk in devices, but when i try to add new datastore client say that datastore must be reformated!

What should I do?

Sorry for my english ...

Welcome to the Community,

the first step is to check the log files to find out the cause of this issue. Maybe the solution is as simple as force mounting the VMFS datastore from the command line as explained in e.g. http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1011387

Hi André

In fdisk -l i see the lost datastore but esxcfg-volume -l do not display any datastorage...

I'm read this article http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1011387 and more else and none of them does not help...

When i try to repeat http://www.demitasse.co.nz/wordpress2/2009/08/recovering-a-deleted-vmfs-datastore/ i have error "no space available for new partition"...

How to force mount existing VMFS partition to datastore ?

Please help....

The command for the "force mount" is explained in the KB article I mentioned. If you remember the datastore name you could try e.g.

esxcfg-volume -M "Datastore1"

I've tried to do this, but without success

~ # esxcfg-volume -l
~ # esxcfg-volume -M "datastore1"

Thanks. Can you remember the datastore label for the missing datastore? Was this store located on local storage ?
