Newbie - How to add another hard disk to Virtual machine

We just started to try ESXI on a new database server.

The previous server got an SSD, it is necessary for our needs. Now we got the new Intel server, was paid 3000$. There are 2 hard drives and a SSD, all on the integrated chipset. We can't find anywere in the ESXI PC interface or in the VMWare Go web to add the SSD to the storage list. We have imported for test a Windows Server 2008 installation and it works, but only C:, no other hard drive found !

Please help !

This is not something that can be done through VMware Go. Perhaps someone on the ESXi community can answer this question. I am moving this post there.

So I understand you correctly - are you trying to install ESXi on a new server?

No, it's already installed and is being tested. We already got 4 virtual machines working correctly.

But our current need is to get the Oracle database up and running, and for that we need to access a second HDD from the virtual Windows Server 2008 and we can't find anywhere on how to do that. VMWare in Windows is way more simple, but this ESXI is not easy to configure. All we can set on the web interface is the disk size that the virtual machine can access. We need to access another disk.

You need to create a datastore on that SSD first, then add a virtual disk to your VM on that SSD-backed datastore.

Ok that make sense. But everywhere I look in the VMWare Go website, I don't see any option like that.

I guess we have to pay if we want to access this configuration.

All right, that's one step further.

What do we need then ? Do we have to pay ?
