Hi,
I've installed a net PCI network card for my ESXi running on a dell poweredge R630.
I installed the intel X540 with 2 ethernet 10G interfaces.
I done all the bios and updates on the dell host.
I manualy added the specific driver for the network card.
My problem is here, in the esx console when i type :
lspci -v | grep -A1 -i ethernet
The old nic are still there and the 2 news are there too.
But, when i type the command :
esxcfg-nics -l
Only the old nics are there, and this is also true in the web page of my esx, in the nic part, only old nics are there.
I can found my new network interface in the material menu, but i can't use it.
I put some pics to explain better.
Thanks !
Have you checked HCL if card is supported? And try better with ESXi 7.0.3 last version
Yes i checked if the card is supported, and it is.
I'll try to update to 7.0.3.
Thanks
No change after the update to ESXI 7.0.3.
Does this card recognized from a Console perspective?
Try in another PCI slot if it's not only LOM Card. In the meantime how many network cards do you have on the Mainboard?
Thanks for you answers,
I currently have an broadcom ethernet card with 4 ports.
I tried to change the pci port for the new ethernet 10G but nothing happend.
From a console perspective, as shown in captures there is something, but nothing usable. And don't have the skill and experience to manipulate the esx from the console.
Thanks !
does simple ping working fine?
On the old nics, yes everything work fine, that's my main system.
On the new ones, i can't get into the configuration menu, it's no listed in available nics on the esx.
Do you have any other network card model, simply to exclude incompatibility?
I can try to install an another ethernet PCI card that i have, i will post the result.
Thanks
Hi,
Just out of my personal curiosity, but you have a specific reason to use the SR-IOV feature?
