New install with ESXi 4.1 fails. Get purple screen of error

Trying for the third time ( 3 different hardware mobo) to install ESXi 4. This time I have gotten a little farther but not to far. The purple screen of disappointment ahs given me the following message. " No supported microcode levels for this stepping of AMD famiy 10h B2 processor. I am using an ASUS M2N68-AM Plus mobo with AMD Phenom 8600b triple core processor and have upgraded to latest BIOS version. Any suggestion on possible BIOS tweaks.

You're using an unsupported mobo, with an completely unsupported processor and wondering about getting it to fly right?? Wow... Even the vm-help site doesn't list your (exact) mobo as being tested and confirmed working (they list the M2N68 and M2N68 Plus, but no -AM version)...

Best suggestion I can make is get hardware that's on the VMware HCL and go from there. I would toss out the AMD proc's and go with Xeon's. It's NOT difficult to locate slightly older servers that are powered by Xeon's (usually at least dual socket, two core or more) that are on the HCL for ESX/ESXi 4.1... Unless you're planning on running ESXi from an USB flash drive, I would also get a system with a (fully supported) hardware RAID controller (with BBWC), as well as fully supported NIC's...

What you're doing is akin to trying to run a high performance engine on either low grade fuel, or (even worse) a high performance GAS engine on diesel fuel...

Thanks for the feedback. I tried with a Super Micro X6DAL-XG mobo and a Xeon processor and kept getting locked up at the yellow install screen. I had an esx 3.5 working but need to run a 64 bit app so hence the esxi 4. At this point I give up and will move on. Too much time and money invested.

I guess I'll load a bare bone linux box and run vmware server on it. One step forward 3 steps back.
