I have tried several times to install ESXi 4.1 (release build-260247 x86 64) on our new HP DL585 G6. We have 4 processors with 6 core each and 256G of memory (maxed out) and yes, it's on the HCL.
Upon installation, the following screen is displayed.
I have been able to install ESX 4.0 and 4.1... just not ESXi.
Anyone have any clues?
I assume you already installed the latest firmware available from the HP web site!?
Run a complete hardware test using the Smartstart CD/DVD (it has a new name now) to make sure there is nothing wrong with the hardware as indicated in the PSOD. In most cases the RAM is the issue.

Thanks André,
It is already at the latest version A07 and I already ran the diags. Found no errors. sigh Looks like I may have to call HP, unless someone else has an idea. Bummer.
To follow up. I ended up opening a SR with VMware. Apparently, there is an issue with the ESXi install and the 10G network cards. Once it removed the cards, ESXi installed no problem. I then did a vihostupdate with the updated drivers from http://downloads.vmware.com/d/details/esx4x_qla_nx_nic_dt/ZHcqYmRAdyViZHdlZQ. Rebooted and voila! It worked!
Also have found that the HP iso works flawlessly for the install. Drivers are already included for all the different cards that have been installed in even the newest machines we have received. Just though I would let the community know. I use the following link - https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=HPVM06
