Network IO Control - vSphere Data Protection System Traffic

vSphere Data Protection Backup Traffic was added as a System Traffic type for NIOC in 6.0.  Does this only apply to the now EOL'ed VDP or does it apply to any backup product that is using the VADP APIs (Veeam, Commvault, or otherwise)?  I've been able to find confirmation one way or another in the documentation.

And has anyone used it in production and have any feedback on its effectiveness?

This currently only applies to VDP and there is no indication that this will apply to any backup product that is using the VADP APIs. If you want to see this in other products, please file a feature request at Making a VMware feature request (1002123) | VMware KB​.
