Hello.
When I originally setup my VMware ESXi 4.1 network I installed my VCenter on one of my Hosts before I had setup any iSCSI connections.
Now I have it all setup.
I can create VMs and move them around between Hosts with no issues.
Except for my VCenter because it's installed on the local storage of one of my Hosts.
I'm not having any luck finding instructions on how to switch it from the local host storage to the iSCSI datastore.
I'm thinking it's an easy process.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks.
You can use the clone function to copy the vCenter server to the shared storage. You can shut down the vCenter server and connect directly the the ESX(i) host that has the vCenter server and copy it to shared storage via the datastore browser. You can use the VMware standalone converter to hot clone the server to the share storage. You can use something like Veeam fastSCP to copy the powered off vCenter server to shared storage.
Use clone feature of the Vcenter to move the storage to ISCSI-LUN. Directly connect to the ESXi and shutdown with local storage and start the one on ISCSI LUN.

I suppose that you haven't the Storage vMotion license, otherwise this is the simplest way.
The "hard" way is shutdown the vCenter server and relocate the VM.

you can request a trial for vpshere, and test out storage vmotion features out. if you like it then you can buy it .. it's so much easier ..
Thanks everyone.
I think I ended up using a few suggestions here, plus I had to learn how to browse the datastore.
Thanks!
