I have ESXi 5.1 installed on a single SATA drive. In this machine I also have a 3ware raid controller with two drives in raid1. I want to add that as a second datastore, however, it does not show in vSphere (Configuration > Storage > Devices). It only shows the single drive I have ESXi installed on and my CD-ROM Drive. Rescanning doesn't change anything. If I reboot and go back into the 3ware BIOS it shows the array as "INIT ARRAY". Normally, with a regular OS, this is OK and it will initialize and build once the OS loads. It seems like it doesn't do that with ESXi. It doesn't go pass "INIT ARRAY", which I assume is the issue (the array does not initialize therefore ESXi doesn't see it(?)). Any suggestions would be Very welcome.
