Hey Guys,
I have downloaded the ESX 4.0 server from vmware site and tried to install it on my host. But when I enter into the installation part using Graphical Mode, Once the vmnix has started after some time weasel is trying to intiate the GUI but it says X server has failed to start and it automatically switches to text mode of installation. After that at a point where it needs to load system drivers it says "No network Adapters were Detected". Please some one help me.
Thanks,
Karthik.
Seems that you have an unsupported network card.
Check in HCL:

Hey ,
I have got a silly doubt.. I was trying to install the ESX 4.0 server on Intel Core2 Duo. Whether this processor is compatible with this or not?
Processor must be 64 bit, and you need 2 CPU or 1 with 4 core.
So maybe your CPU could not work.
For unofficial HCL see: http://www.vm-help.com

If your CPU support x64 bit then you have another option to install ESX 4.0 using VMware Workstation 6.5 or VMware Server 2.0 methods and its great for testing. I'm assuming this is for a test rather than production since your CPU is not for high end production environment.

Install an Intel network card (1000MT for PCI slot or 1000PT for PCI-e slot) or install a Broadcom network card. You might be trying to install using a Realtek network card and that's not likely to work.
Also, try choosing to install in Text Mode instead of graphical mode.
