Hello Folks..i am in need of your experience in this annoying incident that seem to be happening
System
Brand: DellPowerEdge R710
CPU: Xeon CPU X5550 2.67GH
Memory: 32 GB
Raid Card : Dell PowerEdge PERC 6/i SAS RAID Controller Card PCI-E T954J (with Battery)
Hardrive: 6 x 2TB (12TB in total) but using Raid 10 so 6TB for use
OS : EXSI 5.5
Virtual Servers : 5 VM
Problem:
On Configuration Tab and in Health Status I get an alert for the hard drives, that says (see attach Picture)
Disk Drive Bay 1 Drive 1: In Critical Array - Assert
Disk Drive Bay 1 Drive 2: In Critical Array - Assert
Disk Drive Bay 1 Drive 3: In Critical Array - Assert
Disk Drive Bay 1 Drive 4: In Critical Array - Assert
Disk Drive Bay 1 Drive 5: In Critical Array - Assert
Except for Drive 0
I immediately went to check the physical hard drives by the server and they were all nice and pretty with their green beautiful LED,
for some reason i decided to do hot swapping for drive 5 and then no too long after warning came up (see attach Picture)
Disk Drive Bay 1 Drive 5: Rebuild in Progress - Assert
Any help will be greatly apprcieated
Thanks
Hi,
it's pretty unlikely (though not impossible) that all your disks went down at the same time. The screenshot you attached is nothing critical, the controller is just performing a rebuild because you swapped a drive.
After that is finished I would look at DELL support pages for any BIOS/firmware updates for the server, controller and further addon-cards (e.g. DRAC).

Just like you said...i no longer get the warning for disk 5...it seems that it finish rebuilding ...i will do as you advised and do some firmware update...

You may also look for updates on the VMWare driver for the PERC 6/i and probably the CIM provider for the PERC.
