NIC loosing connection

Hi,

We have VSphere 5.5 fully patched with around 15 VMs, most MS Server 2012 plan and a few R2s.  VMWare Tools fully updated on all.

Everything works like a charm - except for one of these VMs.  It is a Win2012 server running WDS & MDT.   It frequently reports that it has a problem with its network interface, (Windows tells that it is disconnected).  Nobody has touched the host's physical network connections and there are other VMs on the same host using the same virtual network connection with no problem at all.

To restore the connection we have to deactivate the interface in windows and reactivate it.  Then everything works fine for several hours.

I have never experienced anything like that.  What can be the problem here?  Thanks for comments.

regards Tor

What vmware driver type are you using for the NIC?  Have you tried to remove the NIC and re-add it/reconfigure?

If you are using e1000 you can try to switch to vmxnet3..

I saw on another post that this resolved an issue that was exactly the same as you have.(network issue with Win2k12 on ESXi)...

Were you able to resolve this issue? I have the exact same problem. Once in a while my DHCP/DNS/etc server 2012 R2 will stop passing traffic. Ping works to/from the server but nothing else. The only way to bring back network connectivity is to disable/enable the NIC.

If the reboot doesn't help then what Adapter do you have the guest connected to: VMXNET or E1000?

Please verify vmware tools is install properly or not..?
