NIC Problem upon OS Upgrade

Hi,

When I upgrade my Windows 2003 64-bit R2 SP2 to WIndows 2008 64-bit R2 SP1, it seems that my previously installed NIC is missing. I tried to trun VM Tools, but to no avail.

Vsphere 4.1

VMFS 3

Hardware Version 7

Which NIC type did you ues for the Windows Server 2003?

I'd suggest you double check the VM's settings (with the VM shut down, not suspended). First make sure the guest OS is set the Windows 2008 R2, then check the virtual NIC model/type. If it is not a E1000 NIC, remove it from the VM's hardware and add a new E1000 NIC to the VM. Windows should detect this NIC automatically, so you will just have to reconfigure the IP settings.
