NFS for ESXi logs

I'm using an NFS datastore for a persistent scratch location for ESXi logs for my cluster. I've just been told that the storage will be offline for 6-8 hours this weekend for maintenance. What happens to the hosts if they can't write to their logs? Typically if an NFS connection drops out like that, the host has to be rebooted to bring it back. But if it can't access it's log files, I'm not sure I'd be able to vmotion my VM's off the host first. Anyone have an experience with a similiar situation?
