NFS ISO share - Contents are empty

I have a single VMware ESXi 5.5 update 1 server. I created a NFS file share on a Windows Server 2008 R2 server. I've successfully added the datastore using the vSphere client and when I browse the datastore I can see the ISO files I have placed in the NFS share.

When I try to connect a virtual machine's cd/dvd drive to the datastore ISO file, I can browse to the NFS share that contains the ISO file and I can attach the ISO file. When I power on the virtual machine to boot off the ISO file, it comes back with an error: Error message from localhost: Failed to connect to virtual device ide1:0

When I go back to my storage and browse the datastore, the contents are empty within the Sphere client. I have to restart my VMware services or VMware server to see the contents within the datastore.

Anyone have an idea what the cause of this is?

Thanks for your reply. I tried changing the settings of the cd/dvd drive as the article mentioned, but I am still getting the same errors.

Another thing to add is after it gives me that error, if I go back to the datastore and browse the contents there is nothing showing as I stated before, and if I refresh the datastores, the NFS share disappears and will not appear back until I restart the server.

Hello,

The hypervisor is installed on a physical server or virtualized in a VM this?

The W2K8 Server (NFS) is virtual or physical?

Tell me the configuration file. Vmx VM fails you. get me the config you have the IDE devices:

ide1: 0.present = "?"

ide1: 0.fileName = "?"

ide1: 0.deviceType = "?"

You have installed vcenter? From where you agree to the VMs? Where do you connect with the vsphere client to VC or ESXi?
