Is there a snapshot on the virtual machine? What is disk mode selected in virtual machine?

Welcome to the Community,

Please run ls -lisa > filelist.txt from the command line in the VM's folder (/vmfs/volumes/<datastore-name>/<folder-name>). The download filelist.txt, the VM's configuration (.vmx) file, as well as all the vmware*.log files from the datastore, comress/zip these files, and attach the resulting .zip archive to a reply post.

check with your backup team or any restore option, any which way there should not be automatically snapshot revert just because of increasing resources
