Multi-homing on ESXi/ESX

VMware KB: Multi-homing on ESXi/ESX

My network team provided me with a new management and a new vmotion segment. These segments are broken out of 10.132.99.xx. Both /27 subnets. 255.255.255.224

VLAN 2 - 10.132.99.0/27 > = 10.132.99.1 - 10.132.99.30

VLAN 3 - 10.132.99.32/27 > = 10.132.99.33 - 10.132.99.62

In this configuration will this multi-homing kbase article still be applicable? The way I'm ready this article is that the vmkernel will not be able to distinguish between the two because they are on the same segment, even though the network team considers them to be different subnets.

I didn't try this myself yet, but I'm pretty sure your network team is correct. With the proper network mask applied, you are actually separating the the traffic into two IP-subnets, which you should also see in the ESXi host's routing table.
