Moving VMFS3 LUN to Windows

I am curious if the issue I am having is a Windows 2008 R2 feature or if it is caused by presenting a LUN to a Windows 2008 R2 server that was previously used with vSphere 4.

The issue is that when the Windows box comes up, it sees the LUN and correctly identifies it as a 1 TB volume. I have initialized and formatted it to the point that the Windows server can write to it.

The problem is that in addition to seeing the 1 TB volume, Server Manager | Disk Management on the server keeps wanting to Initialize Disk each time it is started.

If I click OK to perform the task, it errors out because "THE SYSTEM CANNOT FIND THE FILE SPECIFIED" for each of the Unknown disk that show up in Disk Management.

I am thinking this is a Windows feature, or do I have to destroy the LUN on the SAN and recreate it?

Thanks,
