Moving VM to Stand Alone Host - 5.1

Hello everyone:

I need to move a few guests out of a Host/iSCSI cluster to a stand alone host and the methods we've tried take about an hour per guest (60GB VM). Is that normal? What is the best way to do this? We've tried to do a cold migration then do a Storage vMotion as well as shutting it down and copying the VM folder down through the vSphere client and it take a significant amount of time.

It depends on your enviroment. It's a large file transfer, for which one hour may or may not be long.. But it kinda depends. When you check the performance tab in the vSphere client, do you see decent values for in example disk usage?

Veeam does a great job of backup / restore at very fast transfer rates IF you own the software..

Veeam provides the Quick Migration feature that helps to move live VMware VMs from one host to another or from one datastore to another if vMotion and vStorage Motion are not available.
