Mouse lags

Hi.

We have problems with all Win2003 R2 guests that show a sluggish mouse movement on ESXi 4.1u1.

We still also run ESX 3.5 where Win2003 R2 guests do not show this problem.

Interrestingly we also had this problem with Win2008 R2 guests on ESXi 4.1u1. Here manually

installing the wddm display driver solves the problem.

Any idea how to solve it for Win2003 R2 on latest ESXi 4.1u1?

Thanks.

Hi,

Make sure the video accelleration is full on the advanced properties panel.

Are you running the VMware drivers on 2003?

Mike

Are you using RDP or the vSphere Console?

The second, also with driver acceleration could be slow (especially if you use over a WAN connection).

The question is why it works on ESX 3.5 and fails on ESXi4.1u1.

The question is also why it works with Win2008R2 and fails with Win2003.

HWAccel is set to full and latest VMware tools are installed.

Cheers.

Things getting even more strange.

If you move the mouse over a text field (pointer changes) the pointer moves fast without lagging. If you left the text field and the pointer changes back to the arrow you have back sluggish mouse movement.

Cheers.

Please double check in the Windows Device Manager that it shows "VMware Pointing Device" as the mouse. If not you may install/update to the VMware mouse driver (%programfiles%\VMware\VMware Tools\Drivers\mouse).

Thanks for your answer.

I double checked before and also reinstalled the driver to be sure.

Cheers.
