Mounting USB drive to copy VMs in ESXi 4.1

Hi, I'm new to the VMware world, so I apologize if this question is silly.

I have VMs on a USB drive that I would like to copy into my ESXi datastore and import.

I've enabled SSH login in ESXi, but I'm not sure how to mount and gain access to the USB drive.  Is this possible?

Thanks

Welcome to the communities.

Unfortunately that is not possible. If these are VMs created specifically for ESX(i) then I would use a tool like veeam fastscp http://veeam.com/fastscp to transfer them from a Windows workstation. You can also upload them through the vSphere client Datastore browser. If they were created for some other product then you should install VMware Standalone converter http://vmware.com/go/converter.

Thanks very much for answering my question.

Unfortunately when I try to run Converter Standalone I get an "Unable to obtain hardware information for the selected machine" error.

Any suggestions?
