Monitoring an HP server running ESXi 4 u1

Ok, I know that this topic has been a million times, but after reading through those million posts - I still do not see an answer.

I have an HP DL380 G4 running ESXi 4 u1, and ten virtual development VMs quite nicely. I would like to monitor this server via our HP SIM 6 server, but I do not know how. I have read about populating the WBEM credentials on the SIM side, which I have done. I get back useful, but limited information about the hardware.

I have seen on the HP site a download for "HP ESXi Offline Bundle for VMware ESXi 4.0 Update 1".

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15...

I would assume (no jokes please) that this would give me full details on the server running ESXi. But, many of the posts at HP say that there are NO agents for ESX/HPSIM and just use WBEM.

Can someone please help me out here. I would like to get as much information as can be had about the HP hardware I have running ESXi.

As usual, thanks to all for your time.

Hi,

HP doesn't support ESXi4 on the DL360G4.

IESXi4 will probably run just fine but I doubt that the bundle you downloaded will work.

Check out http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/us/en/servers/4x-servers.html

You could try ESXi3.5

Goodluck.

i have 2 BL460 G6 with HP branded (the one you have talked about) ESXI4U1 and all i had to do is to specify root pass in SIM during the discovery and all info, sensors showed up nicely.

There also is a nice HP add-on to vCenter.

Thank you - the link looks very promising.

I would award you points, but for my life I cannot figure out how to do it. I have tried to reply, but noneof the "options" for correct or complete or even helpful show up. There has to be an easier way to award points.
