Monitoring ESXi 5.5 hosts with PRTG (Paessler) using SOAP

Hi all,

Were running vCenter Server that manages 3 hosts all running ESXi 5.5. Were monitoring out entire network with PRTG by Paessler and we are having a small issue monitoring the hosts via the SOAP protocol.

We try add the "VMware Host Performance (SOAP) Sensor" but every time we do we get an error of "Sorry, the scan for available monitoring items has failed! Error Message Permission to perform this operation was denied."

This may have been a permissions issue but we have created a new user locally on vSphere with admin rights that we have propagated to all hosts that we are using as the credentials for this sensor on PRTG specifically.

If anyone has used PRTG and has had dealing with the "VMware Host Performance (SOAP) Sensor" any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Julius
