Migrating existing vSwitch port groups to DVS

Jump to solution

Hey guys,

i'm seeking for a good article but so far i did not get if i can migrate existing port groups of an ESXi with std vSwitch to a newly created DVS.
I have seen VMs networking wizard but it seems i have to create all the port groups before.

Is it really the case ? as i have 70 port groups and i do not want to do the job manually.

Any suggestion ?

Many thanks in advance

Evening,

This process can be scripted but yes the destination port groups have to be created first.   I suggest using Project Onyx to get the commands in powershell to create port groups.  I personally have 700 port groups and I understand your pain.   Onyx will allow you how to create a single port group in powershell then all you have to change is the name and vlan id.   If you have standard naming you should be ok...

Let me know if you have additional questions or I missed your question.

Thanks,

J
