Migrate VM's from ESX3.5 to a vSphere

hi

We would like to move (migrate) our VM's from ESX3.5 to vSpere 4.1.

We cannot use a "migrate" option over WAN, because of a very low bandwith.

Is it possible, for example copy vmx, vmdk etc. files using Veeam fastSCP to an USB hard drive, send it and install them on the remote vSphere machine?

Hi,

You can use Veeam FastSCP 3.0.3 or later, or Veeam Backup and Replication 4.1.2 and later to copy the vmdk and other VM's supporting files

into destination datastore and recreat the VM's on you ESX 4.0 host.

Take a look at this link for more info;

Hope it helps,

Thx, but we have Veeam Backup and Replication 4.1.1.

BTW is not much easier export to an external USB hard drive using:

Export: Select VM then from the menu File->Virtual Appliance->Export

Import: Select from menu File->Virtual Appliance->Import
