Memory Snapshot

Hi,

Is there any impact, if I delete the memory snapshot (*.vmsn) manually (# rm -rf *.vmsn).

What will happen if I delete all (*.vmsn) manually and then try to delete the the 1st disk snapshot (.vmdk) that directly points to the basedisk using VSphere? (VM disk is thick Provisioning & host is esxi 4.1).

Thanks in advance

Seems you are running out of disk space !? Smiley Wink

I'm not aware of an official statement regarding this, but from my personal experience the .vmsn files are only required in case you want/need to revert to a snapshot. I never had any issue with missing .vmsn file when deleting snapshots.

If you are unsure you can easily test this with a "dummy" VM.

Hi Andre,

Thanks. I've tested and found that there is no impact if we delete memory snapshot (.vmsn) manually.

Also this will not create any problem when deleting snapshot (.vmdk)

Thanks,
