How many maximum uplinks we can connect with one vSwtich in vSS and in vDS also?
Yes, you can make a configuration with only one vSwitch per host and connect all the nic's to that vSwitch.
Maximum active ports per host (VDS and VSS) 1016
http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere5/r50/vsphere-50-configuration-maximums.pdf
the limit you said i think it is not the uplinks limit, it is the maximum number of active virtual ports
I hope when vmware says active..it means to be active uplink only.
i don't think so the active means in this whitepaper is related to the uplinks
This is not whitepaper. This is vmware max support guide..
How you differ active and uplink port?
can u explain me the meaning of active port and uplink port
sorry my miss...I think you mean to ask how many phyical nics can be connected in VSS and VDS
Physical NICs

Hi RanjnaAggarwal
I think there should be one or max two uplink port we can connect.
Active port are generally use for communication purpose even uplink are being use for same but it link to another switch
What other ports cannot do.
No actually it's not....anyone who can reply on this????????????
I think John23 his last answer is the correct one.
You can connect the uplink ports of a virtual switch only to physical nic's. And you can connect one virtual switch to all the physical nic's in a host. So the answer depends on the physical nic type as show in the configuration maximums document. The absolute maximum number of uplinks at this moment is 32.
Regards, Robert
But is that actually possible to connect all physical nics of a host with one vSwitch.
Yes, you can make a configuration with only one vSwitch per host and connect all the nic's to that vSwitch.
