Just to add

In VMFS 3 you can have a 64TB datastore, but this will be made out of extends not bigger than 2TB.

Which means you'll use 32 2TB LUNs for 1 datastore. This is not recomended though. Loose 1 LUN loose whole datastore.

Where with VMFS 5 you can creat one 64TB LUN (if storage supports it) and make it a datastore.

Keeping the best practice ratio of 1:1  =  1LUN per 1 Datastore

For more information please see  VMFS 3 vs VMFS 5

VMFS 3 = vsphere 4

Maximum Lun size = 2 TB

Maximum vmdk = 2 TB

Maximum RDM = 2 TB

VMFS 5 = vSphere 5

Maximum LUN size = 64TB

Maximum vmdk = 2TB

Maximum RDM virtual mode = 2TB

Maximum RDM Physical mode = 64TB
