Max VMDK size in ESXi 4.1

The max VMDK size in ESXi 4.1 can not be more than 2TB-512 Byets? even I select the 128MB block size?  thanks.

The MAX block size is 8MB and the MAX vmdk is 2TB -512bytes.

If you need larger disk sizes you can consider spreading VMDKs across multiple datastores and then assembling the pieces using mount points or DFS in Windows. You can use iSCSI from within an OS to add storage directly or passthrough.

Hello.

Also keep in mind that in order to use snapshots, these values must be even smaller.  Check kb 1012384 for more information.

Thank you all.  I asked this question again because someone said you can have more than 2TB vmdks in ESXi 4.1

2Tb - 512 . .though depoends on block size.

If you need to have bigger disk for an application or something, you can present multiple disks to a VM and use mount points or similar to allow the OS to access larger drives.

One day I will virtualise myself . . .
