Mark a disk as independent whilst a vm is running

Have a separate vmdk disk for the pagefile on a copule of servers and have noticed that they are being snapshotted when backups occur.

Would like these disk to be snapshot independent and wondered if i could somehow avoid having to shutdown to make this simple change.

I know it can't be done via the vc client but wondering if there is any other way to mark a disk as indepenednt whilst the vm is running.

No, I believe you will have to power the VM off to make that change.

we cant do it online. we've to poweroff the machine to change the disk mode.
