Hi everyone,
I am having difficulty with one of the ESXi 5.0.0, 469512
It got disconnected from vcenter. Replies to pings but cannot enable ssh since DCUI is not functional.
Please see screenshot1 how DCUI home screen looks like.
When I type ALT+F1 server goes to command promt but unable to type anything. (screenshot2)
typing root, passwords, unsupported, etc.. does not work.
All VMs are running fine on the host, host is pingable but no SSH since it is disabled.
Unable to login from vi client directly.
Alt F1, or ALT+11 doesnt give me anything
Somehow I have to restart management services, but how?
I dont want to hard reset the system since there are lots of production VMs running on.
Please help,
Thanks everyone!
Try to restart the management agents from the console.
Try to remove the host completely from vCenter and then re-add. When you add a host to vCenter it does an installation of the agents, this may kick start the services back online.
Otherwise log into each VM, shut it down cleanly. Once all VMs have been stopped, pull the power on the host.
Regards,
Paul
Welcome to the Community,
you mentioned a screen shot of the DCUI but you didn't attach it. Please press ALT-F2 and post the screen shot.

Hi Andre,
Sorry for the wrong info given earlier.
When I press ALT+F2 DCUI looks ok but pressing F2 (customize system/view logs) or F12 (shut down / restart) does not respond.
ALT+F1 or ALT+F11 responds to me, changing the screen to screenshot 1 and 2 but ALT+F2 - DCUI no joy.
Thanks
Can you connect to the host directly using the vi client, rather than going through vcenter?
