MS Cluster with vSphere4, everything works except failover when disconnect NIC, results in split brain

I have 2 2003 Enterprise Nodes up-to-date with all patches, everything setup according to Microsoft whitepaper on clustering. I haven't yet installed SQL 2005 as just want to make sure all failover functionality is working first. Failover works ok from Node 1 to 2 (vice versa) when restart or cold reboot of vms, however, if I disconnect the public NIC only the QuorumDisk failovers to Node2 and the SharedDisk (where DBs will reside) does not move over and stays on the failed vm, this case Node1. Believe this is called a split brain.... Need help desperately as running out of ideas.

Thanks

Jim

ESX vSphere4, update1 .. I was thinking media sensing on the NICs could be the culprit.
