MPIO in Guest OS - supported ?

Hello, from what I understand it does not make sense to have MPIO installed on a guest OS when the ESXi host already takes care of multipathing. However, I cannot find a VMware KB stating anything official. Anybody has anything?

I'm not really aware of any official documentation. But you don't actually need multipathing inside the GuestOS since the ESXi host is only presenting 1 datapath for a pRDM to the GuestOS. The VMW-SATP-ALUA rule is doing this for you. As long as the ESXi host has more than 1 datapath, you are fine and don't actually need MPIO.
