MKS Console Port differnce ESX 4.1 and ESXi 5.5

Hi,

with our "old" ESX 4.1 we changed the Remote Console Port 903 to 902 for our VPN users.

We did that using the  /etc/vmware/config file, editing the authd.client.port and setting the vmauthd.server.alwaysProxy to true.

Now we migrated to ESXi 5.5 and the VPN User are not able to connect to the remote console.

Is the old port 903 still in use (I can't see it in the VMware port reference) and if it is, how can I change the remote console port now? Editing the config file doesn't work in ESXi anymore?

Thanks in advance

Hi

Welcome to the communities.

Did you check port connectivity through telnet command to make sure firewall and all configs are ok

telnet IP port number

Hi,

yes we checked telnet connectivity and the ESXi firewall.

It appears that all the port traffice from port 903 in ESX 4.1 an early moved to port 902 in ESXi 5.x.

So 903 is not in use anymore.

We fixed the issue by setting the vmauthd.server.alwaysProxy in the /etc/vmware/config file. This should be set by default, but in our case it wasn't.
