MCE after installation of ESXi 6 on HP Proliant DL380 G7 (2x Intel Xeon L5640 - 96GiB MEM)

Hello,

After installing successfully Vmware ESXi 6 on HP Proliant DL380 G7, system is crashing randomly and I'm unable to identify the root cause.

From SmartStart, I've run a deep check of all components with HP diagnostics and the only issue is that one of the fan is not installed.

May be someone can assist me in the interpretation of the MCE error message (in attachment).

Many thanks for your help.

Hi Haridas,

For your information, I've re-run a complete HW diagnostics and all was Ok.

ESXi was implemented with HP customized ESXi image.

Then, I've followed your recommendation and I've upgraded components with HP Smart Update Manager (see attachments).

Since this operation all is fine and no more MCE.

Based on fixes defined here: Drivers & Software - HPE Support Center.

I can immagine upgrade Rom flash resolves the issue.

Many thanks for you help.

Hi Zen,

Just to double check on the MCE errors. Can you please check on the SEL/IML logs from the ILO during the crash period. They will also give a good idea on what device has resulted the PSOD to be triggered.

Thanks a ton,

zXi
