Looking for cheap NAS compatible with ESXi5

Hi,

I was going through the HCL and everything NAS appears beyond my price reach. NAS is however NAS, what's the cheapest NAS solution (read priced on Ebay) that would work for me?

Thank you. Reagrds,

There are cheap options in there. Look for units from Buffalo, Drobo or Iomega.

Personally, I use a Synology DS411. Works great for my needs.

If you want to see some real world stats on how it tested out for me, check out: http://www.thatcouldbeaproblem.com/?p=454

I looked at the specs of the Synology DS411 and while I may be able to afford one - the specs do not mention NFS or iSCSI, I am essentially looking for a large amount of disk space to be presented to my Dell 1950 running VMware ESXi5, will this do the job? can I use it to run multiple VM's on?

The Synology does both NFS and iSCSI.

You can reasily run 5-8 VMs on it with the right drives.
