Loading Google Compute image onto ESXi

I'm trying to load a Google Compute image onto a ESXi (6.5) server. The image is a .raw file. However, I can't find .raw mentioned in any ESXi documentaion, and more importantly, the ext HDD doesn't show anywhere in the ESXi console to load from! (It does show in the BIOS, so is present)

The .raw file is the output of dd on the Google instance

Can I load this, and if so, how?

If not, how can I get a Google image onto my ESXi server?

Thanks.

VMware supports only .vmdk disk format, not .raw. You will need to convert your GCP exported disk. You can try using VirtualBox's VBoxManage tool to convert from .raw to .vmdk.

Well, converted OK but wouldn't load. Currently trying vCenter Converter to clone a running system. Looking promising so far, but is (another!) 10hr job Smiley Happy
