Load balancing in vSheild

Hi,

I am just messing about with vSheild edge, looking a some of the features.

I've noticed some odd behaviour with load balancing using the round robin method. When I access the virtual server I always get the same web server, as if its not load balancing. If I reboot the web server the virtual server load balances me onto the second web server and keeps me there.

I have no persistence set on the virtual server.

I am only accessing the the virtual server from a couple of clients so there is no load on the web servers but round robin load balancing should work web1->web2->web1->web..... you get the point.

So am I missing some thing?

Any thoughts?

Andy

Hi Andy,

There is a step by step how to configure a load balancer with vShield/vCNS Edge here in case you want to double check:

How to Configure a Load Balancer Using vCloud Networking and Security Edge Device (vShield) | VMware...

If you didn't miss anything, I would suggest you to open ticket to VMware Support

The config is correct it was just the behaviour was not as expected. However, I have noticed that some VMWare "networking" technologies don't work exactly the way a traditional network engineer would expect.

I just wondered if anyone else had used this in a live environment and had seen similar load patterns.

To be honest I don't think its worth raising a ticket for Smiley Happy
