Link Disk can't start in ESX5

Dear All,

ESX5 cannot start a read only vmdk with independent disk now... In ESX4, we can ln the vmdk (and the flat disk) to a RW filesystem and I can start the VM... but it can't work in ESX5 and it prompt error NBD_ERR_NOT_IMPLEMENTED, any idea?

Anyone using Windows NFS service with ESX? Windows VSS provides a read only directory in their NFS for client to access snapshots. In ESX4, we can link (ln -s) the vmdk to RW area and then startup the snapshot VM with independent disk.

Please help!

thanks.

fixed. just copy the vmdk disk descriptorfile, modify the content to your read only file.

that's work again!

Cheers
